Meals Together

Table FellowshipAt St. Thomas More, our fellowship gatherings frequently involve breaking bread together! Ranging from simple weekly potluck suppers to all-day feasts like our annual Parish Picnic, sharing meals together provides the time and opportunity to make new friends and deepen longstanding relationships.

Often these are "potluck" meals in which everyone brings a simple dish (there's always plenty, so spur-of-the-moment guests are still welcome!), and sometimes the food is provided for all at no cost, with donations welcome. In any event, this critical aspect of our fellowship echoes that most important fellowship meal, our gathering at the Eucharistic Table for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass -- itself a foretaste of the Heavenly Banquet.

Regular opportunities for fellowship meals at St. Thomas More include:

Wednesday evening potluck suppers at 6:15 p.m. whenever an Adult Education class is in session.

Noon potluck lunches on the second Sunday of each month, between 10:00 a.m. Mass and 1:00 p.m. Little Flowers / Blue Knights meetings.

6:30 p.m. potluck suppers on the First Friday of each month, following Evensong and preceding 7:00 p.m. Free Movie Nights.

Anniversary Potluck commemorating the founding of our congregation on the Eve of All Saints, 2005 (on or about October 31).

Three Kings Celebration Supper, our Epiphany potluck during which three guests find dimes under their pound cake, are crowned our Three Kings, and receive gifts from the Parish (first Sunday in January, after Lessons & Carols).

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, an opportunity to "fatten up" on the evening before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday (late winter / early spring).

Little Flowers / Blue Knights family picnic, concluding each season of our kids' clubs activities (early June).

St. Thomas More Novena Feast, an English pub lunch usually on the Sunday falling within our annual Novena to St. Thomas More (late June).

Annual Parish Picnic, a full day of food, fellowship, and fun at Lackawanna State Park (early August).
