Choral Evensong
In the Anglican tradition which now finds a home in the Catholic Church (see "Our Story" for more details), the eight daily Monastic offices were compressed into two daily services, Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer. When sung to music, Evening Prayer is also called Evensong. Here at St. Thomas More, Evening Prayer is said weekly on Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m.. Choral Evensong is sung on the First Friday of each month at 4:30 p.m. during the choir season, October through May or June.
A further introduction to Choral Evensong (and a complete example) appears in the video below.
Novena to St. Thomas More
The Parish celebrates an annual Novena (nine days of prayer) to our Patron Saint every year from June 14 through June 22, culminating in Solemn High Mass on the the Feast of Sts. Thomas More and John Fisher. During that time, all weekday Masses are at 5:30 p.m., and all Saturday and Sunday Masses are at 10:00 a.m. (plus the 7:00 p.m. Sunday Mass). Guest preachers from parishes around the area preach on a chosen theme for the year. For those unable to attend in person, the Novena prayers are avialable here.
