Sunday School



While many Catholic CCD programs occur on a weekday afternoon, as a congregation founded by former Protestants with a desire to remain welcoming to those of our prior tradition, at St. Thomas More we have retained the pattern of children's Sunday School, meeting on Sunday mornings prior to the 10:00 Mass, September through May.  Classes are grouped according to age and study material:

• Preschoolers and Kindergartners learn the basics of the Catholic faith with age-appropriate materials and instruction, starting at 9:00 a.m..

• First and Second Graders receive instruction at 9:00 a.m. leading up to their First Holy Communion, which takes place toward the end of the second season.

• Third-through-Fifth Graders build on their knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith, both following up on First Holy Communion material and laying the groundwork for Confirmation. Class is at 9:00 a.m.

• Sixth and Seventh Graders receive instruction leading up to their Confirmation toward the end of the second season.  The class meets at 8:30 a.m. due to the more demanding nature of the materials.

• Eighth-through-Twelfth Graders receive post-Confirmation instruction, delving even futher into the riches of the Catholic faith. Lke their prior class, they meet at 8:30 a.m., but are dismissed at 9:00 a.m. to rehearse alongside the adults in the Parish Choir.

All instruction is provided by qualified volunteers, and/or (in the case of First Holy Communion and Confirmation instruction) by Fr. Bergman himself. All teachers have undergone rigorous Safe Environment screening and training.
